Sarah Binns is an Architect at Deicke Richards, working across social housing and education projects with a strong focus on delivering architecture that supports communities and everyday life. She holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Queensland (2014) and is a member of the Australian Institute of Architects. She has more than 11 years of professional experience, including seven years as a registered architect.
At Deicke Richards, Sarah contributes across design and delivery, bringing a thoughtful and pragmatic approach to projects that prioritise community benefit alongside design quality. She has particular experience in modular and residential architecture, as well as education environments, and values collaborative processes that respond carefully to site, context and user needs.
Sarah’s career includes significant project architect roles on a number of award-winning modular housing projects. Standout work includes the Blok Modular Three Sisters project, which received multiple national and state awards in 2025, including Australian House of the Year at the Houses Awards and the Frederick Romberg Award for Residential Architecture at the AIA National Architecture Awards. Additional highlights include Blok Modular’s Belongil House and Stafford Heights House, both widely recognised for design excellence, innovation, and affordability.
Motivated by the belief that well-designed buildings should be accessible to everyone, Sarah has consistently sought opportunities to work on projects with social purpose. Her design philosophy is grounded in delivering sensitive responses to site and context, ensuring architecture contributes positively to both its immediate setting and the broader community. Outside of her architectural practice, Sarah maintains creative interests in photography and sewing, which inform her considered and hands-on approach to design.
