Luke Watson, Principal

Luke Watson is a Principal at Deicke Richards with more than 20 years of professional experience delivering complex and socially purposeful projects across housing, health, and education. He has a particular interest and commitment to First Nations projects and volunteers his time as a member of the Purple House New Build Steering Committee in the Northern Territory, supporting improved health outcomes for remote First Nations communities.

An award-winning project architect, Luke is recognised for his ability to guide projects from early briefing and master planning through to detailed design, consultant coordination, and construction delivery. He has a strong focus on ensuring design intent is carried through to built outcomes and is great at working with builders and subconsultant teams.

At Deicke Richards, Luke leads and mentors younger staff and assists in the management of the practice. He works closely with clients and communities to design places that are practical, inclusive and responsive to the people who use them.

Luke’s portfolio includes nationally recognised projects such as Mari-Mari-Ba, Hymba Yumba, Crescent House, and Aquinas College, reflecting a deep commitment to community-led design and culturally informed outcomes. Luke particularly values collaborative working relationships with consultants and clients who share a focus on social impact and long-term value.

Luke is motivated by delivering thoughtful, respectful and purpose-driven design that meaningfully improves everyday life, particularly for communities that are often underserved.
